15 Things You Should Never Ever Do in A Hotel Room!

Last Updated on March 17, 2021

4. Don’t leave valuable items in your hotel room

Hotel crimes are a real thing, and if you don’t want to be a victim, don’t let valuable items in your room. Among the things you should never leave in a hotel room are jewelry, electronics, your passport, and your wallet, unless there is a hotel safe you can use to store them. If there is no hotel room safe where you are staying, take your belongings with you.

5. Close the bathroom door while you shower

Of course, you can enjoy all the commodities of your hotel bathroom, but when taking a hot shower or bath, be sure to close the door. Why? Because a warm bath will release a lot of steam, and if that steam reaches the room, there is a chance that it will set off the fire alarm. To avoid this unnecessary panic, close the door.

6. Don’t cover up the smoke alarms

Different hotels have different smoking policies – some will let you smoke inside your room, some won’t, and if those are the rules, you should always respect them. However, some guests insist on smoking in rooms where it’s forbidden to do so and to avoid getting caught, they will cover up the smoke detectors. This level of irresponsibility can put them and the other hotel guests in danger.

7. Inspect your bed

You should always check your bed for bed bugs, even at hotels with the finest room cleaning service. Take your travel bags and put them inside the bathtub while you carefully inspect the bed. It’s a long shot, but you can never be too careful. Plus, imagine the kind of trouble you might get yourself into if your room is filled with hotel bedbugs.

8. Don’t replace the liquor in the minibar

Enjoying your favorite drink from the hotel minibar is not a crime, but if you drink it, you will have to pay for it. Some guests have tried to fool the hotel staff by filling bottles of whiskey with coca-cola, for example.
