Learn A Foreign Language
Many pilots take advantage of the time they spend onboard to learn a new foreign language and enhance their communication skills. For instance, pilots on online forums admit they learned how to speak Hindu and Mandarin while on a long-haul flight.
Nap
While some pilots choose to read and learn new things, others prefer to take a short nap to survive the long-haul flight boredom. There are some large airplanes that come fully equipped with secret sleeping quarters.
These can be found right over the first class cabin and come with a private bedroom and a TV. However, this is not the case of every airplane out there!
Listen To Radio
Normally, the automatic direction finding is designed to be used as an aid to navigation but bored pilots use it as a radio to survive the long haul flights and more particularly the long night flights. They would pick anything that triggers their attention and simply enjoy listening, especially when they have no one to talk to!
Karaoke
Unlike other passengers on the flight, pilots have more privacy in the cockpit! They can listen to their favorite songs and sing them out loud, which is a cool way to kill boredom.
Besides, when you are alone in the cockpit, you don’t have to care about your ugly voice, admitted a pilot. Still, make sure you don’t have a stuck mic before you start your secret audition.
Eat
We are all aware of the fact that airline food has a questionable quality and the quality of the food served to passengers is not as that served to pilots. This is simply because airlines can’t risk the pilots’ lives. That’s not everything!
