Certainly, when you are flying, you have to take your medicine with you. However, what if it is your first time using this medicine? In this case, the best thing to do is never to try it when you are at the airport or during the flight.

This is a new substance getting into your body, and you have no idea how it’s going to react to it. Maybe you are allergic to that medicine without being aware of it, or that medicine causes hallucinations or diarrhea.

Now imagine the worst case scenario, you took a new medicine and something happens while you are above in the sky, there is very little that could be done for you. Thus, you better keep it safe with your baggage instead of making other passengers uncomfortable after taking it.

Never Ignore The Safety Instructions

You might look at the flight attendants and think how much boring they are when they are giving you safety instructions. You may even mimic their sounds and gestures because you heard them so many times that you’ve learned them by heart.

But what you need to be sure of is that at times of crisis and emergencies, these instructions will not be boring anymore and may end up saving your life. For instance, the information provided, such as the nearest emergency exits and the need to count how many rows between you and them, is crucial when the plane gets dark and smoky.

Absolutely No Bombs Jokes

If you want to make a stand-up comedy routine inside a plane that talks about bombs in the airplane luggage, or someone having a rifle in his travel bag or even a knife, you better keep it to yourself. People are getting more and more nervous concerning terrorist attacks on planes.

Therefore, the slightest mentioning of something that could cause a threat will make flight attendants remove you without any hesitation. The same thing goes to TSA agents and the customs, which are more sensitive about these things than people on the plane. So please, keep your jokes for yourself

Don’t Make Your Seat Ruin People’s Food

Sometimes it’s okay to recline your seat if it’s going to make you feel more comfortable. However, there is a social consensus that it is common courtesy to leave your set up while the food is being served.

The person sitting behind you is using the tray table attached to your seat; therefore, you need to adjust your seat in order allow him or her to have the meal.

Don’t Be The Drunk Person On The Plane

If you like to enjoy a drink on the plane, that’s your right. However, your right stops when you become the drunk person on the plain. Overdrinking on the plane will make you drunk, and certainly, nobody will enjoy what’s coming next.

Because you won’t have total control over your actions and what’s even worse, you may end up harassing other passengers, talking in a loud voice or even picking fights with people. Also, when you have too much drink, you risk being dehydrated or kicked off the plane for your misbehavior.

Don’t Eat Food That Stinks

Remember, you are not flying alone, so make sure not to make anything that would disturb the person sitting next to you. The least that you can do is not to eat something that would leave you with bad breath.

Eating food with raw onions or garlic is certainly a nightmare to your seatmates, and would give them an unforgettable stinky flight. If you ate some stinky snacks beforehand, make sure to brush your teeth and use a hand sanitizer to make the smell disappear.

Don’t Abuse The Flight Attendants’ Services

Some people treat flight attendants as if they were their butlers, pressing that call button every second as if they were the only people on the plane. Don’t be one, only use the call button when necessary, and remember that they are there for your safety not to cater for your fantasies.

Don’t insist on getting what you want to be done immediately when they are already busy doing something else. Be a patient passenger, they may even reward you for being nice and friendly.

Don’t Take Someone Else’s Overhead Bin

© hotelboisjol

What’s really frustrating about a flight is when someone takes up your overhead bin and leaves the one that belongs to him or her. This can create chaos all over the plane since it would start a series of people taking each other’s bins. There might be even fights that can start over this matter, leading to a delay on the plane.

So next time, when you are trying to take someone else’s bin, try to think of the consequences of your wrongdoing as you may end up not taking the flight at all!

Don’t Use Up All The Space In The Overhead Bin

If you can put your luggage under the seat, please do so. Don’t act as if the overhead bin is entirely yours and nobody else matters, and that reaching the bin first gives you full rights to use it up.

Everyone else matters as much as you do, and no harm would happen if you actually divided your luggage between the overhead bin and under your seat; especially when the flight is full.

Don’t Impose Your Feet On Other Travelers

Sometimes people slip off their shoes in order to feel more comfortable on a flight. However, there are many things to take into account when doing so. For a start, make sure that your feet are as unnoticeable as possible.

Definitely, don’t put them on the top of the seatback or put them in the space between the plane’s wall and the chair in front of you, so that whoever sitting in front you won’t have your toes in his face when leaning against the window.

However, we all know that the major issue here is when you slip off your shoes and a stinky feet smell is filling the atmosphere. On behalf of everyone in that flight, please don’t…. just don’t.

Don’t Encroach Upon Your Neighbors Space

Your fellow passengers paid for the trip the same way that you did. Therefore, you are bound to respect their space. It is, in fact, one of the most annoying things that happen on the plane when people are getting too comfortable.

They are not even thinking that there are other human beings who share with them the same time and space. That’s the reason why they don’t mind exhibiting disgusting behavior such as man spreading or hogging the armrests. Some people’s hair may even hide the screen that belongs to the person behind them without any consideration.

Bonus :

Here are some additional travelling tips. Before getting on the airplane make sure you’ve booked a hotel in your destination so that you won’t end up spending the night on the street. Also, make sure to make a list of things to bring on a long flight.

Moreover, a lot of people neglect looking for travel insurance before taking off on a vacation ; so make sure you get one ; you never know when you are going to need it.
