Reading reviews online is one of the best ways to know what to expect when staying at a hotel or eating at a restaurant.
#3 – You find it hard to reach a receptionist
If you’ve tried to reach the hotel receptionist or manager several times but in vain or if your emails are never answered, then you should probably ignore that hotel no matter how beautiful it looks on pictures.
They may also answer you but not in a friendly manner you’d usually expect or they won’t even seem interested in winning you over. These are other signs that you should better look for another accommodation.
If they’re not being friendly on the phone or on the internet, chances are they’re just the same in person.
#2 – The hotel is listed on Bedbug reports
This might be disgusting for some and creepy for others, but checking BedbugReports’ website is actually worth it. You would be shocked at how some fancy hotels have these little bugs hiding in their nicely made sheets.
It’s always (always!) a brilliant idea to look up your potential hotel in BedbugReports before booking. Make sure to pay attention to the number of new listings, the higher, the further you should stay away from that hotel, however, you shouldn’t be worried if the complaints date to a couple of years in the past.
#1 – The street view on Google Maps has another story to tell
If your hotel description includes being located in the city center, a few minutes away from the best tourist attractions, it doesn’t mean that it’s actually true.
So many properties claim the same thing just to win clients, that’s why you should always verify your potential accommodation’s location by looking the address up on Google Maps. If the place is not exactly where it claims or has a poorly maintained exterior, then simply look for a new hotel.
