When we book a hotel room, we basically have a very simple expectation: a calm, clean, comfortable room where we can rest our heads and keep our valuables safe… it is very simple. But hotels enjoy going a little wild to make their guests feel special, aren’t they?
Well, most guests appreciate it but if only it is not added to their costs, they may appreciate them a little more. Seriously, they are extremely useless and could waste their money and precious time while the guest cares only about a place to escape their day or to just sleep for a few hours before they have to leave again for another adventure.
If you stay at hotels a lot, then you may already have a few things in mind. Don’t hesitate to share them with us after you finish discovering 9 of the most useless things that hotels have to stop doing.
We understand that they are safer and cost less if someone decided to take them back home, but do we have to be punished by them?
The ones that unlock the door only by waving are not that bad, but when we have to put and take it in for hundred times very slowly, and it still won’t open. We end up going back to the reception using the stairs because, obviously, the card will not work in the elevator now…etc.
Seriously, why all this torture? The suffering is doubled after a night of drinking, FYI!
The swan on our beds are cute, but only if we are on our honeymoon. But normally, we want our towels to be freshly clean and hanging inside the bathroom where we should find them once we need them.
If your intention is to show us the towels are clean enough to be on the bed, well, we don’t care. But we hate leaving the shower with no towel to be found!
Designing showers for short people
What is the deal with hotels and showers? Tall people always have this issue of finding a shower where they could fit in. It seems like there is an issue with the hotel room amenities.
However, the main issue is the head that‘s bolted to the wall, and the bath that adds an extra foot to our height. So maybe the plumbers/designers forgot about that?
It is very great when the hotel room has coffee and tea making facilities, but why do they provide only two milk sachets? Just… why?
Even the people who don’t like their tea or coffee to be milky would still need more. Suddenly, you will be out of milk and, again, you will have to go to the reception asking for more. Do you know how much they will give you? Two…
We may still be able to handle a hard bed, but can we handle the hard pillows? Well, only a few people in the world can, and I am not one of them.
When we book the hotel room, we are basically expecting to spend a night on the “clouds” due to the unbelievable comfort that we will not find anywhere on this planet. Unfortunately, all those expectations are shattered when our heads meet the pillow.
The only hotels that will provide you with pillow menu are the expensive hotels, but not all of us are that luxurious.
We do appreciate technology, the levels it is achieving, and the robots it is making. But I don’t think we need a toilet that opens its own lid every time we walk nearby. It may sound cool at the beginning, but do we truly need it?
Here is a more important question: isn’t it very creepy? Absolutely!
The plugs are installed in the wrong place
We may excuse the old hotels, but now, in this age and on this day, why do hotel rooms still have the plugs somewhere very far from the bed? Aren’t they aware that most of us can’t sleep without our phones with batteries that die quickly?
Probably hotels should start taking notes from hostels: they have USB sockets next to the bed for tablets, cameras, and phones.
One of the most important things that must be in any hotel is the curtains that can actually block the light out. It is our vacation and we want to sleep in! I can’t count how many times when I end up hanging the blankets on the windows to avoid being greeted by the sun very early in the morning.
Also, those who do hang blackout curtains, we like you, and make sure they close properly, please?
It does feel nice to be greeted by your name when you are a regular at a specific hotel. They may even remember your preferred drink and leave it for you in the room you will stay in. But when they start printing out your pictures and leave it at your room… that’s just too much!
Last year, there was a journalist that was welcomed to her hotel room by the pictures of her children that the hotel stuff found on Instagram.
We all have only one word for this situation: Creepy!
