3. Compression packing cubes are your new best friend
Besides organizing all of your clothes and items, compression packing can also be a great way to pack a suitcase to maximize space. For thicker and bulkier items such as sweatshirts or jackets, you can use compression bags to make their volume reduce by half! All you need to do is squeeze all the air out of the bag to occupy less space. These bags may be a little expensive but don’t worry, they are reusable! When it comes to thinner clothing like t-shirts, the rolling method is key. Fold the sleeves and roll the t-shirt as tightly as you can until you have a small roll. Do this with the rest of your clothes, and you’ll be surprised about how much space you’re saving!
4. Get a toiletries hanging bag
When it comes to small personal care items such as makeup, toothbrush, shower gels, and other items you need to get ready every morning, there’s no greater option than storing it all on a hanging travel bag! These bags have a ton of different compartments that will help you organize, and they’re super easy and effective to use once you arrive at your destination. All you need to do is open them and hang them in the bathroom door, almost like a shelf. Remember that liquid toiletries should be in a separate clear bag when traveling by airplane!
5. Fill up the gaps in your bag
Now that you have your bag with your shoes and clothes, it’s only normal that there are extra storage gaps to fill. These small spaces are great for storing socks or underwear. All the clothing layers will allow you to have these “padded” gaps that are great to store fragile items like sunglasses, chargers, or earphones. Maybe you can even find some space to take a few things you didn’t even plan to!

From filling your luggage tag with your name, address, and phone number, to having a safety lock just in case someone tries to open it. If your bag has a very common color or a simple design, you can also opt by purchasing a bag cover to help you identify it in the middle of a thousand bags. Tying a colorful ribbon on your bag handle is also a way to distinguish it from anyone else’s bag. Other accessories like a bag strap for extra security or a bag scale might also be worth purchasing to avoid any problems at the airport!
