Western United States
The United States has been experiencing a crazy heat wave, and it became more frequent in the 1960s. Meanwhile, the cold waves are not happening very often. All this means that the average temperature has increased by 1.8° F, and according to the CSSR Report, this increase has happened in the period from 1901-2016.
Washington State’s Coast
The rivers have been experiencing large floods and streams across a lot of the Northwest’s sections from 1965. Also, these floods have become constant in the Pacific Northwest, according to EPA. These floods enforced the Hoh Native American people to move from their lands in Washington State and go live on a higher ground.
Four-Corners Region, Southwest
In January, these areas have witnessed an extended dry season, no measurable snowfall, and a little precipitation, especially in Arizona. This dryness took 11% of Arizona at the beginning of October.
By the end of the same month, it was 40% of Arizona. In addition to that, the Rockies and the Sierra Nevada experienced very low snowpack levels that led to a serious lack of moisture.
Even after all of these dangerous changes, the global warming is expected to have way more consequences. The droughts and wildfires are already enough reasons to kill hundreds of parts of the world, while extreme storms and major floods will be on the other side causing more damages.
We have to make a stand, and it should be now!
